Media Blasting Services

Media blasting as a cleaning method has been widely used for over a hundred years, often as a method of preparing a surface for the application of paint, a sealant or coating.

Abrasive blasting is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material against a surface under high pressure to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface or remove surface contaminants.

Sandblast Fast is your source for all media blasting services. We offer not only sandblasting but also a milder soda blasting and crushed glass blasting, suitable for a variety of applications. Our blasting enclosure can accommodate your large equipment and vehicles. Our specialists will help you determine which media is best for your project; sand, soda or glass. View FAQs below

Sandblasting

Sandblasting (a.k.a. Gritblasting) is an industrial process by which excess materials, paints, debris, etc., can be removed from a surface (typically metallic surfaces). Our system is a gravity fed/pressure type system, using air pressure combined with an abrasive compound. The abrasive compound is purified fine sand with silica content. Air pressure forces the abrasive through a hardened nozzle in a jet stream which allows it to remove contaminants from the surface of the product.

Soda Blasting

A relatively new technique, sandblasting with baking soda is a highly effective but gentler, more precise technique using sodium bicarbonate particles instead of sand or chemicals.

The sodium bicarbonate used in commercial or industrial soda blasting is a larger granule than the type that is in your kitchen cabinet, although it is the same product. Once it is sprayed, it breaks up or explodes into a powder as it hits the surface, resulting in a fine powder. Because baking soda is softer than sand or water blasting, this is an appropriate method to use in many different industrial painting and cleaning applications.

Soda blasting is an environmentally friendly cleaning technique as baking soda is a natural substance that simply dissipates into the environment. Sandblasting with baking soda is completely harmless, but highly effective in removing paint and grime in preparation for commercial painting.

Crushed Glass Blasting

Crushed glass offers aggressive surface profiling and removal of a variety of coatings while containing no free silica. Manufactured from 100% recycled bottle glass, crushed glass generally produces a whiter, cleaner finish compared to mineral/slag abrasives. This abrasive is excellent for coating removal on softer metals such as aluminum or thin gauge steel that may typically be warped or damaged by higher density abrasives.

Sandblasting is the process of blasting miniscule materials out of a nozzle via pressurized air. This force of materials can remove layers of paint, rust, dirt, rust, and other substances from an item. The end goal of sandblasting, also known as media blasting and abrasive blasting, is to completely remove contaminants and external substances from an item. This leaves a textured surface that can adhere to powder coating more easily.

In sandblasting, small particles are blasted at a high speed, capable of removing layers of paint and more. Considering this, sandblasting can cause significant harm if used improperly. Our professional team here at Sandblast Fast is highly skilled and familiar with sandblasting and we take proper precautions to ensure no one is put in harm’s way when we sandblast items.
